About Us

Climate Week India is a nationwide, community-owned platform for climate action. Nobody runs it; everybody makes it. It is held together by a coalition of organisations and individuals who all agree to the same set of promises.

Everything the coalition chooses to do is guided by the Community Agreements. The Goals were, in turn, founded on the Community Agreements, and the Code of Conduct sets out how we treat each other when we gather. Any organisation or individual can become part of the coalition as long as they align with them.

Community Agreements

These guiding principles were created through the process of the Community Agreement methodology, facilitated on 11th April, 2025 at the Climate Week Partners’ Meeting. Partners are invited to keep refining them through a collaborative process.

We’ll invite everyone in. Especially people who usually get left out, they see things we don’t. As originally agreed We will invite new actors, and often overlooked stakeholders, to the table to broaden our understanding of issues and solutions.
We won’t just scare people. Climate news can feel frightening. Every time we talk about something worrying, we’ll also share hope and something people can actually do. As originally agreed The events and content that we run within the Climate Week will be conscious of topics that induce climate anxiety. For every anxiety-inducing topic, we will ensure that something offsets that anxiety, by offering a balance of hope that seeks to inspire action.
We’ll keep talking all year. Not just during Climate Week. As originally agreed Climate Week will enable climate conversations to continue throughout the year involving all stakeholders.
We’ll build something that lasts. The events end, but the community and the work keep going. As originally agreed We will collectively intentionally looking at long-term continuity of the experience and space beyond the events.
We’ll explain things clearly. We’ll pay attention to who’s listening, break things down when needed, and we’re happy to be asked questions. As originally agreed We will be are of the audience/people participating, and we will be open to breaking down topics, while also remaining open to being questioned.
We’ll skip the complicated words. No confusing jargon. As originally agreed We will be as jargon-free as possible.
We’ll stick to our plan. We’ll follow the goals, rules, and promises we made together. As originally agreed We aim to run the events as per defined by the co-created Climate Week India 2025 Goals, Code of Conduct and Community Agreements.
We’ll share what we have. Venues, supplies, and helpers, shared in ways that work for all kinds of communities. As originally agreed We aim to be collaborative in the use of resources, such as venues, vendors, materials, in a way that is accessible to different types of communities.
We’ll stay on topic. This is about climate. As originally agreed We will focus on the climate conversation and stay as issue-focused as possible.
We’ll keep our focus on community, nature, and taking care of the planet. As originally agreed We will ensure that the conversation remains around themes of community, ecology, sustainability.
We won’t blame or shame anyone. No pointing fingers at people or groups. As originally agreed Conservation and communications around Climate Week India 2025 does not become about naming and shaming individuals and groups of people.
Communities come first. Many organisations own this together, all of them care about the environment and about fairness. As originally agreed Community-led values are at the heart of Climate Week 2025, co-owned by multiple organisations committed to environmental action and social justice.
Local people lead. We work together, include everyone, and share the load, because local people know what their own community needs. As originally agreed By centring collaboration, inclusivity, and shared responsibility, we empower local voices to lead solutions that reflect the unique needs and strengths of our communities.
Everyone gets a fair shot. Our climate plans must be good for the planet and fair, easy to join, and built on what local people already know. As originally agreed This week will foster a spirit of collective action, ensuring that climate strategies are not only sustainable but also equitable, accessible, and rooted in local knowledge.
We’re building a space to talk, learn, and try new ideas, because the people most affected by climate change should be the ones leading the way. As originally agreed Together, we are creating a platform for dialogue, learning, and innovation, reinforcing the principle that meaningful climate action is driven by the people it impacts the most.

Show off what’s already working, close to homeLots of people across India are already doing smart things about the climate, often young people, often without much money. Let’s put a spotlight on them instead of only talking about what governments and big companies should do. As originally written Showcase and Celebrate Local Climate Solutions Highlight impactful local initiatives and innovations, recognising youth leadership and community-driven efforts in climate action.
Help people understand what’s going onNot lectures. Conversations, walks, films, workshops, whatever gets someone from “I’ve heard of climate change” to “I understand what’s happening where I live, and I can decide what to do about it.” As originally written Promote Climate Literacy and Awareness Advance climate literacy by engaging the public, sharing knowledge, and inspiring informed action through interactive sessions and educational outreach.
Get people who never talk to each other into the same roomFarmers and scientists. Students and city officials. Artists and engineers. Everyone knows a piece of the picture; nobody knows all of it. The good ideas usually show up when the pieces get put together. As originally written Foster Multistakeholder Dialogue and Collaboration Bring together diverse skills, experiences, networks, and sectors to encourage open dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaborative problem-solving.
Help people find each other, and keep in touch afterwardsThe week ends but the relationships shouldn’t. The aim is a hundred new working friendships between organisations, a thousand people who now know each other, and at least ten people across five cities who help hold it all together locally. As originally written Catalyse Strategic Partnerships and Alliances Build and strengthen at least 100 new potential alliances, aiming to foster 1,000 new acquaintances and establish a network of at least 10 Climate Week Ambassadors across 5 cities.
Make it easy to actually do somethingNot just to hear about the problem and go home feeling bad. Something you can join, make, plant, fix, argue about, or organise, as a person, a school, a business, or a neighbourhood. As originally written Empower Public Engagement and Action Inspire and catalyse climate action by involving citizens, businesses, and organisations in meaningful activities and campaigns.
Carry what people say up to the people who decide thingsWrite down what came out of all these conversations, across all these places, in one document. Hand it to the people making the rules. So that what gets decided is shaped by the people who live with the consequences. As originally written Amplify Collective Voices for Policy Impact Co-create a comprehensive document reflecting the collective voice of participants, to be presented to decision makers by January 2026, influencing future climate policies and actions.

Code of Conduct

Together, we create an environment where everyone feels safe, respected, and empowered to engage in climate action. By living these values, we make Climate Week India a positive and meaningful experience for all. Below is our co-created Code of Conduct for Climate Week India.

General Code of Conduct At Climate Week India, we come together with a shared commitment to create a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for everyone involved. As a community, we recognise that our actions shape the experience for all, and we strive to embody the following principles in everything we do.
Inclusivity and Respect We treat each other with courtesy, dignity, and respect. We celebrate the diversity within our community, across age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, religion, and background. We do not tolerate harassment, bullying, or discrimination in any form, whether in person or online. Our words and actions reflect our commitment to a space free from offensive remarks, intimidation, unwelcome attention, or hate speech. Together, we foster an environment where everyone feels valued and heard.
Safe Participation We share the responsibility of creating a welcoming space. Hostile or dangerous behaviour has no place in our community. We look out for one another, and when we see someone in distress or witness behaviour that threatens our collective well-being, we act, alerting event staff so that support can be provided. Our goal is to ensure everyone feels safe to participate, learn, and collaborate.
Professional Conduct Integrity guides our interactions. We respect the rules of each venue and session, including time limits and guidelines for materials. We follow all health and safety protocols, and we listen to the guidance of organisers and venue staff, knowing they work to ensure a successful event for us all.
Environmental Responsibility As a climate-focused community, we lead by example in caring for our environment. We use designated bins, minimise waste, and make sustainable choices wherever possible. Our actions reflect our shared commitment to the planet.
