The Commons Agreement, Climate Week India

The Commons Agreement

This is a single, shared agreement that defines the roles of all partners in the Climate Week India coalition in the public sphere.

One agreement in common. The Commons Agreement is the one agreement we all hold in common, as a Partner Organisation, an Ambassador, a Volunteer or as an Anchor. This way, everyone helping with Climate Week India is holding the same understanding instead of dozens of separate contracts.

Commit to your role, add your name, and you’re part of the coalition. Adding your name doesn’t tie you to any one organisation. It makes you a part of the Climate Week India coalition. This is a shared, living roster.

Our shared values. Everyone joins based on the Climate Week India Community Agreements and Goals, which the community co-created and continues to refine.
By adding your name, you’re saying these values guide how you read everything else here.

What being a part of the coalition means. Being a Partner, Ambassador, Volunteer or Anchor means making (a minimum of) one clear, public commitment to a role you create and you will hold. This will be shown on our website and social media.

Your role. The exact role that you will be taking on will remain on the next page. Pick the role that fits you; shape its words to match what you can genuinely give, nothing is too small.

Brand and name. You are welcome to call yourself a “Climate Week India Partner” and use the coalition’s logo for anything genuinely part of Climate Week India, and if you’re pairing it with a new campaign, just check with the core partners or Ambassadors first, as they will be with you before using your name or logo.

Confidentiality. Sometimes partners share things that aren’t public yet, like draft plans, funding conversations, partner details, or attendee lists, so please treat these with the same care you’d want for your own internal work and don’t pass them on without checking with the core partners or Ambassadors.

Ownership. Whatever you bring with you stays yours, and anything we create together for Climate Week India becomes a shared resource we co-built that you’re free to keep using for non-commercial, mission-aligned work.

Nature of this agreement. This is a shared understanding and real intention to collaborate. It is not a binding commercial contract. If any work does involve funding or paid work, it will be detailed separately.

Duration and stepping back. This Commons Agreement applies to the current edition of Climate Week India up till June 2027. You can step back anytime with a bit of notice, without providing a reason.

If something goes wrong. If something ever feels off, please try to address directly before escalating it with one of the Ambassadors or Anchors. We will try to sort things out through open conversation first. If required, we can bring in a mutually-agreed neutral person to help mediate the situation.

Joining the Climate Week India Commons. By adding your name to the Expression of Interest form, and now this agreement you join the roster of everyone holding up a part of Climate Week India. By adding your name you are saying that you have read the Community Agreements, Goals, and Code of Conduct and that you agree to abide by it.
